Our neighborhood is not the same without Butch and Kathy. But our memories of being neighbors for so many years still bring us smiles. So many conversations and happenings to smile about. How we miss them! But know you kids miss them so much more than we do. Praying for the continued comfort only God can give. Hugs to all three of you!

Three years ago I hurt my shoulder on a boy scout ski trip. Kathy insisted on taking me to the VA. That was a great time for us to have time to talk (just like old times). When we got home Mom made sure I was comfortable and turned on the ocean meditation music. The next day Mom and Dad said they were driving me home even though my arm felt alright. They wouldn't take no for an answer. Kathy drove my car with the children and Butch and I rode in his truck (just like old times) When the children tried to ride with us I said no :-). It was my time with my DAD. Such love I felt always with them!

We meet Butch & Kathy this past year and 1/2 at the Nabors reunion in Ashville. When you first meet people they may seem like strangers but this was not the case warm welcome. Bless the children & Nabors Family.

First thing I want to pray the Holy Spirit to bring comfort to you dear family, and to bring you peace that passes all understanding in this time of grief in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. To say I was shocked when Eugene Wilson (Stump Jumper) called me and informed me of the tragedy is an understatement. Kathy and Bear were so full of life and such a joy to be around the world will miss their kind sweet spirit! I was Bear's dispatcher for over twenty years at ABF Freight System, and I want to let you know that Bear was a great driver and a great friend to his fellow drivers and also to me. I could always count on Bear to go the extra mile in his work, and he always had a great attitude even during stressful situations. So many miles, but Bear and Kathy have finally reached their final destination with the Lord Jesus Christ! Bless you family you will always be in my prayers and Bear and Kathy will always be in my heart!

Harold, Mavis, Monica, Tommy & all the Family I am so grateful that I was able to spend time with Butch & Kathy in January. My son kept bugging me to get on the road but I just wanted to stay there with Butch Kathy Connie Tommy Wilbert and Mertle (hope I spelled the names right) so I did. So grateful I stayed in their presence for as long as I could. I had been talking to Butch a lot, so grateful for that. I have great memories! Butch picked me up in Chicago in his 18 wheeler truck and drove me to N.C. when I was 16 years old. We had always called him Uncle but that was the day he became Daddy to me. Once we were on our way to pick up the kids from school and he backed the truck up, got out and picked me 2 peaches off the tree in the yard. I said "thanks Daddy" He just smiled. I even wanted to emulate Kathy when I became a mom (always running around to practices, scouts, grocery store etc). When I became a mom I learned just how much effort it took. I had so much fun with Harold, Mavis, & Monica those sweet summers! I never wanted to return home! There was so much love that was just so natural. I thank the Creator for allowing me to have a part in their journey. So grateful they got the opportunity to continue the journey together. Thanks for depositing into my life. Love Patti

To The Gragg Children and Family, It was a total shock to me, I was listening to the news on Monday and they said a couple from Black Mt. killed in a wreck and gave their names, I couldn't believe what I was hearing. It still don't seem real. I had only seen Cathy one time but I knew Bear from trading at Enmark. A lot of the drivers stopped to get coffee and goodies. To Harold, Jr., Mavis, Monica, Tommy (Butch’s Brother) and other family members, I am so sadden and heartbroken over the news of their death. My heart goes out to you. Kathy and Butch were not only family they were good friends. I loved them dearly. We had a lot of good times together when I lived NC and ATL. Now they are gone and it saddens my heart so much. Most people don’t know that they were just here at my door on Friday before their accident on Sunday. Apparently they had come by to visit while they were here in Los Angeles and left their number for me to call. I was out of the area that weekend and returned Sunday to find their number in my door. I was totally surprised and so excited to hear from them because it had been a long time since I had the chance to spend time with them. I thought they were still in town and just at the moment I was going to call them I got the news of their death. I was devastated and couldn’t believe what I had heard, what was being said to me. It was so surreal and unbelievable. They were very kindhearted, loving, humble human beings. I will always remember them. They will truly be missed. Mavis, Monica, Harold, Jr., Tommy and family, hang in there and God will give you the GRACE to get through these difficult and heartbreaking times. May the blessings of God be upon you.
